Hello. My name is Michelle, and I am the creator of Natural Bottoms. I am a mother of three beautiful children six and under. If you are a parent, I need not explain the incredible amount of love and joy that children bring to you despite the daily challenges. Like many parents, I became more aware of the importance of being more eco-friendly or “green” once I started my family. I was always conscious about not littering and recycling, but I became much more aware once I gave birth to my first child. His future was dependent upon it.
One of the most challenging times of my life has now given birth to this company. After my second son (right) was born ten weeks prematurely, I was instantly aware of how the smallest things can affect us on a very large scale. Like many other premature children, my son struggled just to eat and keep himself warm.
As time went on and he grew, we faced many other challenges like food allergies, asthma, cognitive impairment and autistic features, to name a few. Our roles as parents changed dramatically, and we immediately vowed to make the best choices and changes for improving our baby’s and our family’s future.
Two of those changes were diet and, most importantly, his environment. Once you start realizing exactly what is in the products and food your baby comes in contact with daily at the most vulnerable point of his life, you quickly try to educate yourself to make the right choices.
Some of those choices included trying to eat more organic or responsibly farmed food—not only for the better nutrient value and to reduce exposure to unnecessary additives and preservatives, but to hopefully give the planet and my children a fighting chance.
We also began to use eco-friendly cleaners and other products to help eliminate harmful chemicals that would come in contact with our children.
Lastly (and most importantly), after my daughter’s birth I began to use cloth diapers. I really had no understanding of the real impact of disposable diapers. They are a single-use item that accounts for the third-largest source of waste in our landfills. The impact that they have on the environment is astonishing.
Our family is trying to give to our children, the most precious gifts in our lives, the most precious gift of all: a safe, clean and happy future.
P.S. All my children are doing very well including my middle son, who has worked very hard. With lots of love and understanding from his education team, he is able to attend his local school.
Thank you. And I hope you will find my service to be a convenient way to make a difference.
Lots of hugs,
